Hotel tip for Madrid travellers: Only YOU Hotel Atocha
Last week we made a few days Christmas getaway trip to city center of Madrid with hubby, while our son enjoyed quality time with his grandparents. We stayed at Only YOU Hotel Atocha (find prices and available rooms here), and once again my husband had made a perfect choice for our two-nights’ stay. I shared a lot of videos and photos from that hotel on Instagram Stories and got a lot of messages and questions related to the hotel from my followers. So, to make this all easier I wanted to share this wonderful hotel tip with all of you, in case some of you might need hotel recommendation during your stay in Madrid.
For me, this hotel was love at the first sight! And not only because of their welcome glass of cava 😉 . The hotel has central location right next to Atocha railway station and metro stop. There’s a lot of attractions at a walking distance, like Retiro Park just around the corner and Prado museum quite near. The hotel itself is set in a 19th-century building, and although hotel is located right next to a busy road, we had no sound troubles. The style and design on the interior were unique and casual, kind of funky. Rooms were tidy, cosy and perfect for couples, with spacious bathroom. And I absolutely loved the mirror and lamp set up in the hall!
The breakfast buffet was fantastic with eggs to order and just about everything one could think of, including gourmet cheeses, honeycomb, chia pudding and for example almond milk. Something, that you rarely find at hotel breakfast in Spain. Absolutely delicious and perfect! And yes, you don’t have to stay at the hotel to get to this breakfast, so remember this option if looking for breakfast with a view while in Madrid 😉 . At the evening time this same restaurant (Sép7ima, the rooftop bar) turns into Angelita Madrid Sky bar with its bold and very innovative cocktails. This is the rooftop terrace to go if you want to experience and try something a bit different!
On the first floor of the hotel, there was also another restaurant,
Trotamundos restaurant, that serves classics but also exotic flavors of oriental cuisine. Also, if you have a sweet tooth, you have to try Mama Framboise right next to the entrance (inside the hotel), from where you can find coffee and little sweet treats that recreates a typical New York bakery.
At the Only YOU Hotel Atocha you can also take care of yourself with a help of a personal trainer (individual tailor-made training, group classes or assessment in the fitness gym, for example). Or if you’re a gentleman with a beard, drop by the barbershop and treat yourself a little bit. Malditos Bastardos Barbería right next to the entrance offers wet shaves, beard trims and classic cuts. Quite cool extra service or what!
So, keep this hotel in mind, if you’re ever coming to Madrid. I highly recommend and will for sure try their other hotel in Chueca, if I ever have a chance!
