El Ochenta: Kitchen, Bar & Friends
Like I told you couple weeks ago, we love eating out, and especially in restaurants, which differ from the usual restaurant supply. Last time I presented to you a little hidden gem in Benalmadena, you’ll find that post here, and this time I’d like to introduce you to one of our absolute favorite restaurant here in Majadahonda, Madrid where we live. It was one of the first restaurants we tried when we moved here, and still we keep returning there with and without our friends when we want to get a guaranteed delicious food.
EL OCHENTA (C/ Norias, 80, 28221 Majadahonda, Madrid, Spain)
Fresh and seasonal products, surprising taste experiences and dishes made with love. That’s what El Ochenta is all about. This restaurant offers you Mediterranean, Spanish and Contemporary food every day during the whole day. You can enjoy their breakfast, lunch or dinner either in their airy and bright interior or at the terrace, which offers to you excellent views of the nearby park with its pine forest. Whichever you choose, I’m sure this place will charm you.
One thing that I really love is, that all their products come from local suppliers. The food they offer is always super fresh and they really care about the quality they offer to the customers. For example, one time when I was ordering Ensalada De pulpo (their amazing octopus salad), they told me, that they had run out of ripe avocados, and suggest me to order something else so I could get the best possible culinary experience. And that is something I really appreciate as a customer; you tell if you have some deficiencies and don’t just sell whatever you happen to have available!
And talking about their food, it’s like a heaven in a plate! Mostly their dishes work best when you share them with your company, but for example their salads are something, that I’m not ready to share 😉 All the flavors are so unique and carefully chosen, that I’m sure no one has anything negative to say about their food. We do have some favorite portions in El Ochenta, that we could happily order every time, but we also try to taste something new, when we eat there. Calamares “El Ochenta” (octopus prepared with El Ochenta style), Alcachofa Confitada (caramelized artichokes) and Tartar de Atun (tuna tartare), just to mention few of my favorites, are something you don’t want to miss. Also, if you’re a meat lover, you’ll find here a wide range of good qualified meats, which will be prepared for you the way you want 😛
The staff in El Ochenta are more than friendly. They always have time to have a few words with you, and even though they’re busy, they don’t let it affect on service level. The staff always takes into consideration the little ones of the family, and there will be something suitable for them too in the menu. And yes, they do have high chairs for kids, which can’t be taken for granted, when you’re in Spain. Even though children are more than welcome for almost any restaurants.
So if you ever visit Madrid and are ready for a little adventure, I highly recommend you to hop on a train (or a cab) and give this charming restaurant in Majadahonda a try. I’ll guarantee, that you won’t be disappointed! If you’re arriving during the weekend or with a big group, I suggest you to make a reservation in order to avoid disappointments. The place is very popular among locals and they’re also organizing private events.
